The nearest arrival point is from the foot ferry from John O Groats (summer only)
Northlink ferries: arrive/depart, Stromness ~ Scrabster & Kirkwall ~ Aberdeen.
Pentland ferries: serve St Margarets Hope ~ Gills Bay (nr John O Groats)
Flybe seves Kirkwall airport with regular flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness & Aberdeen
Inverness & Aberdeen~ are served by discount airlines and a good train and coach netwok.

(By car) ~ Once on the Island from your chosen arrival point and carrier, from all points it is necessary to travel south to the Island of South Ronaldsay.
The road running from Kirkwall and St Margarets Hope (A961) leads to Burwick (the arrival point of the summer only foot ferry from John O Groats)
As you are approaching the southern tip of the Island, follow the directions to Tomb of The Eagles wich is a left turn before arrival to Burwick.
This road leads to Cleat and a right turn will take you to the approach for the Tomb of The Eagles. Banks, is a continuation of the road, passing the left turn to the Tomb to arrive at the end of the road and "Banks"
Tomb of The Eagles : a privately owned historical archaeological site. A very popular, family run and interesting location to visit.
